Padma Resort Bali Go Green

Category: Press Releases – Padma Resort Bali 4:05 am

As part of its ongoing commitment to the environment, Padma Resort Bali at Legian announces that as of July, it is now using oxo-biodegradable plastic trash bags.

Different to degradable bags, oxo-biodegradable bags are degradable with the presence of ultra-violet, thermal and oxidation as well as the composting process done by microbes.  The result is CO2, which could then be absorbed by plants for photosynthesis process.

While conventional plastic bags could take hundreds of years to degrade, oxo-biodegradable bags only take a few years, even months to degrade – depending on environment.

Padma Resort Bali at Legian, one of the leading five-star resorts in the island holiday destination of Bali, understands that hospitality sector is heavy users of plastic bags and believes that using oxo-biodegradable bags as an investment for reducing plastic waste and therefore maintaining the sustainability of the environment.

Aside from starting to use oxo-biodegradable plastic trash bags, Padma Resort Bali at Legian also eagerly encourages its in-house guests to reuse their bath towels and only replace it by request.  This initiative aims to reduce energy and water consumption, as well as detergent waste used daily to wash guest towels.

While the Padma has actually begun this initiative a few years ago, it modified and changed the old placard and replaced them with noticeable signage in all bathrooms.  Padma Resort Bali hopes that, with this new approach, more and more guests would participate in the initiative.
